The Advantages of Cell Phones and Tablets in Relation To Marketing
Marketing Channels
To understand marketing, we must first understand marketing channels. "A marketing channel is described as the set of people, organizations, and activities that work together to transfer goods (products and services) from the point of origin to the point of consumption. The primary purpose of a marketing channel is to create a connection between the organization that creates a product or service and prospective customers who may want to purchase it" (What is a Marketing Channel, 2021).

With this in mind, mobile marketing has become an integral part of any successful marketing strategy. Did you know that 97% of the United States has possession of a cell phone (Pew, 2022)? In knowing that it becomes very clear why mobile marketing is important to a solid strategy.
Increase in Awareness and Sales
The first thing that comes to mind as an advantage of mobile marketing is that access to your consumer is immediate. As many of you know, there are "peak times" to post your content and take advantage of your consumer. When you do post something at the right time, you are powerfully increasing the population's awareness of your brand. "What’s also important to note is that as of August 2022, 62% of web traffic came from mobile devices, not desktops" (Grguric, 2022). Think about it...people are not always at their desk, but chances are they ALWAYS have their smart phones. With the increase of the awareness, comes an increase in sales. They work hand in hand!
Leading the Customer to Sales
Have you ever seen an instagram post with buttons that say "send (insert handle here) a message? Often times, when I create this button on the bottom of my client's posts, it creates the ability for the consumer to ask questions, schedule appointments, or even lead them to making a purchase.
Disadvantages to Mobile Marketing
There are many advantages to mobile marketing, but there are a few disadvantages as well. The first difficulty is that there are regulations when it comes to mobile marketing, especially SMS marketing and other direct contac (Adil, 2023). Another challenge is that mobile marketing has the opportunity to be blocked or ignored (Wilson, nd). Some phones have a ad blocker, which could limit your ability to reach your potential customers. Another downside is the small screen. In some cases, the small screen can create a situation where the customer cannot be fully impressed by how awesome your product is. However, the truth is, when it comes to mobile marketing, the benefits outweigh the risks.
